An Unusual day at John Adams Academy.

It was a regular, boring Monday morning when I came to school. We all did the flag ceremony and walked to our first period classes; mine was Spanish 2. I was working hard on the classwork assignment that I was assigned when suddenly, there was a phone call. It was from the office, saying that I had forgotten to pick up my shadow buddy.
Nervously, I walked down to the office, completely confused about all of this since I didn't remember anyone telling my anything about my having a shadow buddy. When I arrived at the office, my gaze shifted to a person sitting near the corner of the room. He was tall, with some squared shoulders. His head and face were mostly covered by his hood but I could still make out his rugged jaw.
Mr. Steve came to me and introduced me to the man, saying that his name was Frankenstein.
"Frankenstein, as in the book?" I asked Mr. Steve. He gave me a confused look.
"Nevermind," I mumbled as I reached out my hand to shake Frankenstein's. He just stared at it and didn't move a finger.
"Okay," I remarked, "lets go to my Spanish class."
Throughout the day, Frankenstein didn't speak at all, at least, I didn't hear him say anything. He has been allowed to wear his hood, which no one seamed to mind anyway. He must have been real shy but he understood everything I told him and sometimes nodded his head to show that he was listening. Nobody bothered him and he didn't bother anyone either.
At the end of the day, it felt nice to have some good company like the one Frankenstein provided. Before I left to go home, I told him that he should maybe come again sometime soon.
All he said was "Thank you," in a deep, low voice as he nodded his head during which, I saw a brief smile on his half-hidden face. I had never gotten a chance to see his face completely, but maybe that was for the best.
It still warms my heart to remember the great day we had when Frankenstein had come to JAA.

  1. The post itself was creative and well thought out, especially how he would act in a school surrounded by people, but the picture made it all the better.

  2. Good job! I really liked how you incorporated Frankenstein with JAA and it was very interesting to read. Also, the picture was amazing.

  3. Very clever, Andrey! I'm going to have to save this as an example. Enjoyed how you balanced maintaining his character in a foreign environment.
